DAVE LOFTS BRINGS RAW SOUL AND DEFIANCE TO AUSTRALIA WITH ‘WHISTLING ON A BOTTLE’
Irish singer-songwriter Dave Lofts is back with ‘Whistling On A Bottle’, a gritty, soulful new single that captures the raw honesty and powerhouse vocals that have quickly made him one of Ireland’s most talked-about emerging artists.
Released September 18 via B-Unique Records, the track arrives at the perfect time, with Lofts preparing to bring his music to Australia for the first time this October.
‘Whistling On A Bottle’ is big-hearted and unapologetic. Built around Lofts’ unmistakable voice, the song tackles love, resilience and the determination to keep going when life gets messy. There’s a rough-edged quality to his delivery that makes the track feel lived-in rather than polished for the sake of it — exactly the kind of song that sounds destined to be sung back by a room full of people.
It follows Lofts’ debut EP Holy, which reached #1 on the Independent Irish Album Chart and #6 on the Irish Albums Chart, establishing him as a songwriter capable of moving between vulnerability, soul and old-school storytelling.
His rise has been driven as much by his live performances as his recordings. Lofts has played 25 consecutive sold-out headline shows and shared stages with artists including Dermot Kennedy, Gavin James, Wolf Alice, Picture This and Kingfishr. Viral performances of songs by Kate Bush and Sam Fender, along with an impromptu performance of ‘Holy’ with Sierra Ferrell, have also introduced his voice to millions of listeners.
Now Australian audiences can see what all the fuss is about.
Lofts will tour Australia from October 9, supporting The High Kings across Melbourne, Geelong, Ballarat, Frankston, Brisbane, Tweed Heads and Adelaide, before finishing with his own headline show at Sydney’s Paddo RSL on October 17.
‘Whistling On A Bottle’ makes a compelling introduction. Raw, soulful and delivered with plenty of attitude, it suggests Lofts is an artist who isn't interested in hiding behind the production. He puts the voice, the story and the emotion front and centre — and that is exactly where he belongs.
